If you’ve installed burglar, smoke, carbon monoxide, or radon detectors, you could be eligible for insurance discounts. Also, make sure to cover anything particularly unique about your new home’s construction material, like roof type or interior and exterior finishes. If you’re using a moving company, they will likely provide coverage. If you’re moving your own property, your home insurance should cover your items anywhere in the world. Be sure to check with your insurance for any gaps you might have (for example, breakage is typically not covered).
Is my property covered in storage?
It depends on your insurance carrier. Liberty Mutual will provide 100% of your personal property coverage if you put belongings in a formal storage unit.
How can I make sure all of my property is covered after moving?
